Sakura Katsumi is the adoptive daughter of a Puerto Rican Archaeologist, and her step-brother being the overly protective Kai'Talos Martinez. Sakura lived in Kibou, New Japan, but moved to another village within the vicinity for a year after the Yakuza who had inhabitant the land of New Japan granted her and her family access.
Sakura's mother didn't tell her that she was dying, but Sakura knew what her mother was suffering from, and kind of accepted what is bound to happen. In her mother's will, a childhood friend, who had been with her and saved her, being their for her, to take care of Sakura. She eventually contacted Mr. Martinez, who was doing some work not too far from New Japan, he was in Vietnam.
Prior to her leaving, she briefly met with a boy who was living at the dojo in Kibou New Japan.
She had moved to New York with Mr.Martinez, and she met her new brother once she got there. As she grew older, she met Kai'Talos' friend, Yamato Jenji Takeru, someone who had lived in Old Japan, who also had moved to America. The three eventually practice together later on within the Yamato Family dojo in northern NY, and each of them have moved up in the ranks of mixed marital arts, and took on lessons to become Shinobi Ninjas, a tradition among the Yamato family.
Sakura and the others eventually had to fight against members of the opposing dojo members called The Black Foot, who used the criminal underground and gangs (joint op of Sweets Gang and Italian Mafia).
This lead to an all out fight until most of Blackfoot surrendered and or have been defeated, but this caused Jenji to take the full brunt of an explosion that nearly killed him in order to save Sakura and Kai'Talos, who ended up suffering from not so fatal injuries.
This event caused the 3 of them to awaken their Dragni-like power, as for Jenji, he took on a new mantle, dubbing himself Neo X Ninja (NX Ninja), along with a new synthetic ninja suit and vowed to cause distress among the criminals and their allies. Sakura took on the name Neo X Rose (NX Rose) as well as her brother taking on the surname, simply as Kai.
Since there wasn't much going on for them, and Yamato's father had since been in New Japan for sometime, events regarding James Konta started to take place, causing the group to go at odds with him, considering him a rival and a challenge, expect for Sakura, who took somewhat of an interest in James.
The Neo X Ninja faction of the dojo also gained some allies after some time, one of which being Bianca Airesus, whom Sakura sees not only as a friend, but as a role model.
